Volvo S40 2.0d 2008 problem

Hi, I am hoping someone might be able to help. About 8 months ago I bought a 2008 Volvo S40 2.0D. All was well until a couple of months ago when on a journey the car engine no longer had any power and would not rev, but continued to idle. The issue appeared to be a faulty fuel injector so my mechanic replaced the faulty injector with a brand new one. The car ran well for about a week then the exact same thing happened. This time the fault code was cleared by the AA and the car ran normally again until about a week later the exact same thing happened. The mechanic no longer believes it is an injector fault. The fault codes are as follows:

1667 output stage injection valve
Intermittent
Faulty signal

&

1203 out stage injection valve
Permanent
Signal missing

The last time this happened the mechanic cleared the codes and recoded the injectors and once again the engine was fine.

I am at wits end with this car, my first Volvo, which is a shame as its a nice car to drive when running.

Not sure about your mechanic, however general code readers will not work with this car. Volvo has it's own software and hardware, which is required to get the correct trouble codes.
Additionally I read here before that the injectors need to be set in Vida system (that is what Volvo calls the software) after it is replaced.

I would suggest to take your car to a Volvo specialist.

Another case of generic codes being potential misleading for diagnosing volvos. vida has a conversion table. Based on below sounds like you have a dodgy connection in the loom. Should be easy if so. Reading the stored codes properly with dice / vida would be best idea though.

1203 is actually

P1667 is not even on the table, when this happens i find its usually the code closest on the list.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-2330

Condition
The engine control module (ECM) checks the signal to the injection valve, cylinder 3 and its function. If the signal to the injection valve, cylinder 3 is too high, too low or faulty, the engine control module (ECM) interprets this as a fault and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored. The fault is diagnosed by the engine control module (ECM) when the engine is running.
Note! Cylinder 1 (injection valve 1) is located at the flywheel on this engine.

When programming optimisation parameters for the injectors in the Engine Control Module (ECM), the communication and the programmed value are monitored.
If the Engine Control Module (ECM) registers an error in the communication, the value or its length, then a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is generated. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the ignition is switched on.
