Default Downsize wheels - update!

After much deliberation and endless consulting with various web based wheel size calculators, I decided to take the plunge and go for a set of 19" wheels to replace the supplied 22's.
I sought out a secondhand set of Jaguar "Razor" wheels as fitted to the F-Pace as they seemed more plentiful, OEM quality and much cheaper than Volvo wheels.
Ebay came up trumps with a set in excellent condition, not too far away and with the bonus of four good Pirelli P Zero SUV tyres (5-7mm tread left).
They are 8.5J width which is 0.5" smaller than the originals but have the same bolt pattern, centre bore and offset. My concern about brake clearance was unfounded as they bolted straight on.
The tyres are 255/55 which causes the speedo to under-read by about 2%
I plan to use the Pirellis for the time being and then swop to Goodyear All Season 265/50 which will reduce the error to about 0.5%.
I'll have to source some new wheel centres as the Volvo ones are too big.
A quick ride round the block shows that the ride is softer and less crashy over pot holes, so far so good.

Looks so much better on the smaller wheels.

So do I - 19's !

It looks like a child's car drawing on 22s or one of those wacky car art pieces with enormous wheels. Just saying.

I agree 19s looks lovely. Well done RussJ759.
I drive on 20" myself I wouldn't mind having 19s if I had that option.

22s look better IMO but I too downsized after too many potholes and wheel clips damaged tyres.

we chose black alloys in an effort to hide there pathetic smallness, doesn't really work need 22s back, might put them back on in summer, need to buy another couple of tyres first though.

22s....wheel of awesome

This is such a royal PITA these days with the way Volvo spec everything up.

I want to buy an ex30 which comes with sensible 18in wheels. But I want extended range which then means it comes with 19in wheels (and we are up from 33k to 38.5k). But then I want the heat pump, 22kw charger, panoramic roof and light interior which means I have to go for Ultra and it comes with 20in wheels (and we are now up to 42k).

To be honest after making the "price journey" all the way up to 42k I might be tempted just to say **** it and I will go for the Twin Motor as well at 44.5k, but then I get 21in wheels......

I think I will end up with the Ultra single motor extended range at 42k and then look for some smaller wheels (maybe as part of a winter tyre package) if they break my spine.

I don't really need a Twin motor car which accelerates to 60 in 3.5s anyway.....

yup when I picked it up, knew it'd never look that good again so took a photo

We are also considering an ex30 addition, chances are it'll have better suspension on the vehicle being designed for the size and weight from the outset..
