Hi, have added a photo of where I think it is on mine, the paint has been scratched off to reveal a number.
ARROW WITH THE TAIL 183352p027886 is the number I assume the 027886 is the chasis number ? what is the significance of the 183352p, the seem to be different on other cars , eg usa etc what is the other number arrow with out the tail ? 28050 is this the body number applied by Pressed Steel? |

You have found the chassis number, as per your qrrow. The first part of the number 183352P identifies what type of Volvo it is and what model year. All UK 1800S cars for the 1968 model year carried 183352P (with the possible exception of a sunroof car which would have one digit different). the numbers refer to engine type, LHD/RHD, manual box etc and the P means '68.
The last few digits are the unique chassis number -027886. The other number you have identified is the body number. As the bodies were made by Pressed Steel in a different order from that in which they left the Volvo factory there is always a discrepency. |

I see the car is a pale blue one - will you be keeping the original colour?

yes I will be keeping the colour, I actually quite like the colour and it's growing on me.
I think some other colours possibly suit the 1800s better, But I think the pale blue is a colour of it's time, where as red, white etc are still widly used today Simon |
