Default Interchanging Volvo Wheels, MY09 XC70

I have a MY09 (i.e. 5 month old) xc70.

I'm thinking of buying some winter wheels with knobblier tyres.

There's a set of xc90 (2004 model) wheels available to me.

I have been researching, but not found anything concrete. My understanding is that the XC90 has a hub centre measurement of 67 or 67.1 mm.

The 2009 XC70 has (I believe) a 63.4mm centre.

I can't find hub centre/spigot rings anywhere in these sizes, or confirmation from someone who has actually done it!

So - anyone fitted XC90 wheels onto a (latest model) XC70???

Help gratefully recieved (or if you want to sell some xc70 wheels let me know!).

Cheers

I fitted Atlantis wheels from an XC90 onto my S60, went straight on.

So - the G3 XC70 has 63.4mm hub centres, and 55mm offset. My standard rims were 17 x 7.5”

The XC90 wheel has 67.1mm hub centres and 49mm offset. The wheels I purchased were Volvo XC90 “Antaeus” rims, which are 17 x 7” (i.e. half-an-inch narrower).

You can easily buy 67.1 / 63.4mm "spigot rings" to amend the hub diameter (only £5 on ebay). Photo:

The offset issue was clarified by a senior (very helpful) member on another Form “Since the XC70 wheels are narrower by 1/2" it is normal that the offset is different. At the end, some XC90 wheels have 12mm MORE clearance inside and have the exact same outer position than the standard Sargas XC70 wheels. It means the full 1/2" difference is inside the wheel and the outside of the wheel is at the same position”.

I had a set of Vredestein “WINTRAC” tyres fitted, and hey-ho, a fantastic set of wheels for winter duties, with appropriate rubber…

They look great!

Better photo here:

Great on these snowy Scottish roads... This was taken yesterday whilst heading out to "Quinag" just North of ullapool. The tyres (and 4wd) have been fantastic in this hard winter - they've gripped well in the wet and snow.

Hope the weather improves soon so I can use my "summer" Sargas wheels again...
