1991 Volvo 340GL 'Kar'

Chris_C’s Volvo Owners Club Forum Photo Gallery
1991 Volvo 340GL 'Kar'
1991(H) 340GL 1.4 'Kar'

Owned by myself for 5 years, in which time I've covered 40k+ miles. Total mileage to date 123k milesCurrently off road, see below.

Engine Specifications:
  • Currently shot, after I let a garage near it for the first time in 2 years, and they didn't torque tighten the air filter/carb bolts. I found the bolt in the carb, and never saw the washer. No1 cylinder has been destroyed, something metal-like has been rattlying round in there...
Engine Misc.:
  • Currently awaiting B18FT from a Volvo 400, turbo 340 here we come! Along with that, moddified driventrain will be fabricated
Suspension, wheels & tyres:
  • Awaiting SPAX adjustables all round
  • Volvo 480 Atlas rims
  • Uprated brakes all round, currently being fabricated
Interior:
  • Volvo 400 series Info Centre and Traffic Master traffic alert system in custom panel
  • Re-circ
  • Econometer and Ambient Temperature gauges (temperature gauge modified to give internal and external temperature readings)
  • Voltmeter, Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature gauges from a Porsche 928
  • Silver dash and trim
  • Custom boot cavity covers
  • Electrics Windows and Mirrors
  • Blue LED accented interior lighting
Uprated stereo system consisting:
  • Alpine V12 4 channel amplifier
  • Custom designed Bang and Olufsen components in rear shelf
  • Alpine 6x9's in the front door pockets
  • Custom preamp
  • Ipod
Rear shelf utilises the Volvo standard issue "Granny" tarten blanket to prevent rear window being smashed for speakers on display, and amp is situated in rear boot cavity, with a pair of custom covers to hide it when boot is open.

Exterior:
  • Hella Grill
  • Colour Coded Snowcap
  • Foglamps
  • Original bodykit (awaiting fitting)
Until the good weather and finances come in, I'm running my spare parts car (see my other gallery)

As I only have one car taxed and insured at a time, all get treated as workhorses that I can enjoy, hence the mods are (mainly ) to increase comfort and fun. I also compete in a local road rally series, so the current car at the time also gets to see some motorsport, and needs to be able to perform as such.
