1953 Volvo PV444E My fine weather friend
Engine Specifications:
  • B4B 44HP. 4 cylinder, OHV.
Engine Misc.:
  • Remote trickle flow oil filter. Radiator blind fitted as standard. 240v engine coolant heater fitted as standard for the cold Swedish winters. 6 volt battery system.
Fuel system:
  • Zenith carb
Fuel & Tuning:
  • Runs on normal unleaded with Broquet in the tank. No amount of tuning will change this.
Exhaust:
  • Yes, has one, single box.
Drivetrain:
  • 3 speed gearbox with synchro only on 2nd and 3rd.
Suspension, wheels & tyres:
  • Coil springs and shocks all round. White wall tyres that cost as much as a T5 tyre.
Interior:
  • Basic. Cloth seats. Rubber mats. 1 speed heater. Oil pressure gauge as standard. Cigarette lighter as standard. Left hand drive.
Exterior:
  • Original black paint.
Performance:
  • 0 - 60 mph = Yes, eventually, but sooner if going down hill.
  • 60 - 0 mph = Yes, eventually, but sooner if going up hill.
Fun factor:
  • Wonderful to drive. As long as you get all the speed off before going around a corner or roundabout. It rolls a bit. No power steering but the steering wheel is quite large to give some leverage.
