Thanks for asking this, I don't know the answer to either but need the answers to both for my car. Half of my climate control is dim and my shifter area is dark too.

take up smoking
The Haynes manual says that you have to remove the centre console to get at the bulb holder. Looks like a bugger of a job so I'm going to wait for the warm summer months before I tackle this one, along with cleaning the PCV and fitting some new front discs and sorting the air con and getting the o/s headlamp wiper to work.
The answer for now is to spark up a giggie before you set off and use the light cast by a cheap giggie lighter to find the right selector position. Simple really. |

i've now inserted a small maap light that goes in ciggie socket for the dark, as i can't seem to unclip the middle console so that does the job.
i got the dash off for the heater controls and the bulbs were ok but they just don't light up just don't know why.

Are there any alternative on bulbs - say something you could get from somewhere like Maplin? Or is it dealer-only?

For a direct replacement they are dealer only.

With the plastic trim removed below the handbrake there are two white wiring connectors. I am wondering what these two wiring connectors are for, anybody know?
You can see photo of them here. http://volvospeed.com/volvo_repairs_...placement.html |
