Do you have the 6-spd auto in this vehicle or the 5-spd automatic?

What makes you think it needs a change of transmission fluid? How many miles on the transmission? If it really doesn't need new ATF and you flush with an inferior fluid (even one that claims to meet or actually does meet JWS 3309), then you may be doing a disservice to the tranny.

Thumbs up Jim314

Its a 5 speed Jim, with 108,000 on the clock. The fluid is a medium to darkish brown,as I am going to pull a caravan with the car (XC70 D5) I think its best to err on the safe side.I take your point on the fluid and will use the Mobil ATF 3309 if I can find any over here, or Toyota T1V or Saab 3309. I have only had the car for two weeks so going through checking things out,the fuel tank is not easy to fill, I think the breather pipe is blocked, still trying to sort that one. Many thanks for your input Jim. Regards Pete

I've used it in mine - a S60 D5 with 114,500 on the clock. Although the fluid on the dipstick looked "reddish", when I drained the transmission the fluid was rank and almost black. Flushed it through and replaced the fluid with 12 litres of the Carlube ATF-U and it has behaved impeccably ever since.

Well, there is no doubt the ATF needs changing ASAP before you'd pull a caravan.

I'd certainly change the ATF, lots of how to's on this site and others.
How much does the Carlube cost?
Have you tried vauxhall for thier ATF-see my other posts for the part number and price(now historic).

Well sink me! I was unaware of the British additional meaning of what is in 'America' exclusively colloquial for transmission.
