Smile The annoying seatbelt reminder gong (can it be changed)

Is there any way to change how the annoying seatbelt reminder works (S60-2006), it seems to get going as soon as the engine is running, regardless of whether the car has started to move. Are there any settings in whatever module that controls it, to make it work in a less annoying way when say your manouvering the car etc with no intention of driving at more than 2mph!.

Would be useful if it started 'gonging' if you get over a reasonable speed like 5mph !

It is annoying isn't it.

Just like the annoying day time lights, they can be switched OFF by volvo.

Thing is, my dealer would not let me do it unless I had a doctors note to say I am not required to wear a seatbelt????

Accepted this at the time, but looking back, who was he to decide if I could have the beeping turned off or not??? No law against turning it off??

Mine bing bongs for a few seconds when the engine is first started, then goes off. It comes on again when moving forwards at about 5mph but does not come on in reverse. When the speed drops below 5mph it turns off again.

I do find it frustrating though that the S60 has many customisable settings, but the manufacturer doesn't want to give that control to the driver.
For example I want my clock to be 12h not 24h, but I don't want to pay Volvo to change it.

What about buying a belt-buckle and anchor for your car ?
Put the new anchor in place of the existing one and leave the spare buckle clipped into the old anchor.
Would that work or would the buckle-sensor in the old anchor have to be tripped (by re-inserting the buckle) every time you start the car ?

Could someone check this on an unmodded car ?
Buckle the belt before you get in the car, sit on the seat in case it has an occupant-sensor, run the engine, turn it off, remove the key and see if you get the bonging when you start her up again.
TIA

reminder setting can be only changed using vtc 2000 either dice with vida/vadis software. by the way the same story is with day lights. in most cases after 2004 software download is necessary to do so.
