Default Ecm 6805

in my attempt to assist Adey with his ECM 6805 code i did the following VAC test.
1 connected VAC gauge to VAC pump that was putting out 20 hg.
2 connected VAC gauge to pads and TCV that was working as it should.
3 connected VAC gauge to TCG in line that gave me when the revs where at 2500 rpm 43 hg stable, went past 2500rpm to 3000 rpm VAC dropped and held at 30hg, when applying the throtle from tickover the needle on the VAC gauge rises smoothly.i am unsure if those figures are correct or withing the parrimeters that they should be if you have no boost leaks, perhaps someone may confirm this.also i noticed that when i disconnected all the pipe work from the gauge the pipe that was connected to the TCG had quiet a bit off oil in it is this normall it was only connected for about 10 min
this test was carried out on my car with no known boost leaks
thanks
mike

Mike,

as I understand it it goes summott like this ....If engine speed (RPM) is above 3500 rpm and the engine is operating at a high load, and if the boost pressure (from the boost pressure sensor) is higher than a designated value, (which at maximum boost pressure is approximately 20kPa (2.9psi) above normal boost pressure,) this is interpreted as a fault and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-6805 is stored.

This causes "Limp Home Mode" to be activated

I asked Brian about this & he has suggested the Following

* Hole in hoses between turbo and turbo control valve respectively

*control valve and pressure servo are loose or are blocked/damaged
* faulty turbo control valve
* faulty boost pressure control (BPC) valve pressure servo
* sticking boost pressure control (BPC) valve

His thoughts were towards the Final listing as he has had "A Fair Few" <<<(His words NOT MINE) cars in with this problem & they ALL had the above (due to "Contaminates" being present) For contaminates read "OIL"

hope this helps

Keith

thanks for your time keith,i have posted a pic on what VIDA says 10% of value and 50 -60% respectfully, at different loads.or is there a magic figure somewhere.lso when you rev over 2500 rpm the vac decrease as in my case at 2500 the vac was 45 hg at 3000 rpm the vac went down to 30 hg
