Reluctant sale of my 244
Hello all,
I'm in the position where I need to reluctantly sell my beloved 244. I've owned it for almost two years but have to sell in order to buy a van for our business; I can't keep two vehicles on the road and I'm not going to keep filling the boot with collectables as it isn't fair on the car to be used as work transport! Basically the details are: 1982 244 Mist Brown MOT until Nov 2012 Tax until end of May 2012 Some service history 137,000 miles Some spares included I'm the third owner, the previous two being the original buyer, followed by his son who was a mechanic. I have a documented history of work that he carried out, since I have owned it I have only had to do routine servicing and some repairs for the MOT. It's not perfect but a good original example, though now some bodywork needs doing at the base of the doors and on the sill, but this is external as there were no advisories on the MOT. Brake pads could do with changing, but I have a set to go with the car. I also have the original bill of sale from 1982 and the number plate has been valued at £500 - BOO 222X The driver's seat is worn but the other seats are in great condition. The driver's arm rest has perished. Small jobs really. I would really like this to go to someone that will restore it; as I say it is a very reluctant sale but I have to think with the head and not the heart..! Completely reliable, starts every time, keeps on chugging, used daily and gets a fair few looks from young and old alike. Based in Norwich. Ideally I would like £1400 given the (relative) rarity/colour and number plate, I've put the word around a few classic car clubs as well. Photos are here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...666#post772666 Thanks for reading..! |

Hello,
First of all : good luck with the sale. So, taking away the ""value"" of the private plate you ask GBP 900 for the car. The value of the private plate is only there if someone wants to pay for the plate, otherwise you might be sitting on it for years in order to sell. Regards, brodgar |

Hello, thanks for the luck..!
I should clarify that the number plate is the original factory registration, as shown on the bill of sale; my mentioning the value was probably more anecdotal than anything else as it gets a fair few comments. I got it valued a while ago purely out of interest. If I didn't have the original documentation then I would have been tempted..but it seems fair and proper that it stays with the car..! regards Jason |

Wow! That's quite a colour! Never come across that shade before. Good luck with the sale.

A lovely looking car.
Not sure about the colour being "Mist Brown" though as that colour isn't listed in the paint code checker. Just wondered what it really comes under.Any chance You could have a look and let us know? Purely for interest as I have way to many cars already. Regards Brian. This is where to find the vin plate and colour code but mine is a 1992 model so yours may differ in where it's located. |

Thank you Jason I found that a very interesting site indeed.
The info on there seems to varie a bit from the one on here as 146-2 is listed as "CAMEO BROWN/BEIGE BROWN"? But I prefer your name for it.So much nicer sounding is "MIST BROWN". I'm fascinated by the names of some of the colours they had.And imagine allsorts of wierd and wonderful shades. Hope your sale goes well. And thank you for responding. Regards Brian. Oh and being a sad person I counted the amount of colours on each list. The list you posted had 252 and the one on here had 281. I should think there are quite a few variations with the info though.
