Default Throttle body?

Hi all
Can anyone tell me where i might find the throttle body on my 2005 V50 2.0l diesel please? I have seen it mentioned on here but i can't see it and my manual doesn't even mention it!

Many thanks for any replies.

Take off the engine cover (pull up on the front corners, one side at a time, and then pull carefully at the back)

The throttle body is in the centre of the engine, at the front.

To get at the innards, undo the jubilee clip holding on the air intake hose, and remove the hose.

Five pounds to a bag of nuts that it will be oily & gummed up as hell in there, and if you're having starting problems, the problem will be that the valve is sticking shut. Push the flap with your fingers to see if it is sticking/encountering resistance.

Clean it out with some petrol and - in most cases - Robert is your Father's Brother.

Don't retighten the jubilee clip too tight, as you'll distort the crapulous plastic housing and your problems will multiply a thousandfold (or so it will seem).

Thanks for that gar074, copperknob sent me a private message (save my embarrassment) to tell me where it was earlier but you were spot on about its condition! Because of the time i only had a quick look, so i literally pulled back the hose and ran a finger round inside and it was very oily and gunky! Will do a proper job of it next weekend. Will i need a new gasket if i remove it too?

You won't need a new gasket, but one of the three torx screws fixing the TB to the inlet manifold is a PITA to reach to because the oil level stalk gets in the way and complicates things.

Be careful when removing the intake air temperature sensor "green" as it's temp sensing wires are as thin as hair and can brake easily, so after undoing the screw holding it in place and pulling it out, be sure to place it somewhere where it won't get damaged, you can also very gently wipe the oil off those delicate wires... I used a cotton ear swab with alcohol. Arrow in pic>

Good luck

Many thanks for the tip on the air temp sensor - I'll be more careful next time I take it apart.
