Default Expensive fix req

Evening everyone help required I have a v50 2.0d on 04 plate this morning I went to start it and just got a slow / sluggish trying to turn over and engine shakin I eventually drained the battery called the RAC out at first thought said it was dead battery or starter motor on jumpin my battery via his van still no turn over but the engine was shaken violetly he left if to boost the battery after 15 mins he managed to get it start after several turns but it was shaken its head off and idling erratically and was wanting to cut out. He ruled out battery ,starter motor , fuel filter (new 1 fitted) alternator, glow plugs (recently fitted) he had the car ticking over for about 15 mins ( still idling erratically ) plugged in the computer no error codes but it suggested only running on 3 clyinders (No. 1 no power) said this could be either electric fault to the injector or the injector itself also showed there might be a fault with No. 3 clyinder as well .car not starting at all now just trying to turn over and shakin. Anyway my local garage have quoted me around £450 for 2 new injectors if it is the injectors could it be anything else as well am slowly running out of patience and money with this car many thxs

Throttle body all cleaned new fuel filter, alternator and glow plugs
If its is just 2 injectors is it just a case of just fitting them or does the car need reprogramming or something just can't believe just small part is so expensive just looked on flea bay and they want £175 for a recon injector also the my garage stated they won't know which type of injector (brand) until I take the car in on Monday

It sounds like its miss firing. I've had this on petrol cars and it was the coil packs but I have no idea about diesels if they run a similar ignition system. Failing that I had faulty injectors on a BMW once and they were sent away to be refurbed which did the trick. Again I don't know if Volvo injectors can be refurbed but there's some more avenues you can explore to save money.

I should add that to refurb the injectors was about £50 each one iirc.

See here for testing.

£50 for one on eBay.

What did the garage do to ascertain that you need two injectors?

Edit: Try a wiggle and clean before buying.

Matt garage are only going off what RAC mechanic has wrote on his sheet which states injector No 1 no working & No 3 suspect investigate further either injectors or electric wiring to the injectors he unplugged No 1 lead and showed me that there was no differance to idling garage can run full diagnostics on it when I take it in Monday RAC computer only stated only running on 3 cylinders & 1 suspect but couldnt diagnose extact fault

Could be ECU adjusting fualling due to lack of signal from the sensor.

Found cheaper.

That's what am worried about that they can't pin the fault down to one thing . Forgot to mention in 1st post that the car been hard to start for while ie one morning it will start first turn next morning it will need a few turns & rough idling but have noticed mpg has gone down the last couple weeks but put that down to the cold weather
