Default VOC INSURANCE - a discount is not just for Christmas

This news just in from our Motor Manager, Paul…

One of our major insurer partners has offered us an extra 15% off their rates. They’ve seen how much better car club/forum members generally are as drivers and they want to attract you. We’ve said it before but if price has been the only barrier to you switching to the VOC Insurance scheme, you need to pick up the phone and let us remove that barrier.

At the moment we’re signing up about 50% of the quotes offered to car club/forum members but with this extra discount we’ll be able to beat even more members’ best quotes.

You’ll remember the great success of our 2012 END OF YEAR SALE? – well this could outstrip even that. This is a DISCOUNT IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS but seeing as there’s NO END DATE in sight, it will even benefit those whose renewal isn’t due for a few months.

Here’s what car club members have said about Chris Knott (the firm behind VOC Insurance) in the last couple of weeks (genuine quotes with usernames supplied) and the extra discount wasn’t even in play then:

”Purchased an MPS 6 yesterday and Chris Knott Insurance was by far the cheapest on both cars (MPS was £540 - 23 years old, 2 years no claims) and the service was the best from any company ever. Keep up the good work!” MeetKane, MPS Owners Club

“Chris Knott Insurance got it well below what the competition offered!” TurboPete, Mercedes-Benz Owners Association

”Just signed up with Chris Knott. Great price £250 fully comp on a 2009 GP Abarth, 3 points, 40 years old, 5 years NCB protected, legal, key cover, £250 excess. Happy chappy!” Martwho, Fiat Forum

”I don't normally find such good deals, so I don't normally shout about them, but Chris Knott Insurance gave me a quote which was more than £300 BETTER than the first one I had elsewhere, and nearly £40 better than anyone else could do. Top stuff.” MarkBT, Briskoda.net

”Just insured my Grand with Chris Knott. Helpful, non-pushy sales staff and it saved me almost £200. A very happy customer Paule, C-Max Owners Club

”Talk about quoting me a price that nearly made me faint - doubt I will be doing anymore research. Expect a call after payday . I spoke to a guy called Paul - finally an insurance guy that knows what he’s talking about.” Sternritter, MPS Owners Club

As long as you meet our usual criteria, we expect many more members to have this kind of experience with VOC Insurance. Ask us to quote today.

Call VOC Insurance on 0800 023 4374 (or 01424 205077) – it’s our job to save you as much as we can on your car insurance while giving you good quality cover and sound insurance advice.

MORE NEWS, this time about a UK Breakdown Cover OFFER, coming in the next few days - just in time for Winter... watch this space!

As there is no mention of the ban on M, OL and SK postcodes, I'll assume this has been lifted!

It was lifted at the beginning of October. I've posted to this effect now at http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...76#post1516876

And you didn't think to post this at the time?

You posted many comments and feedback, but none from this forum. I wonder why?

Because this forum's members rarely leave any feedback. Leave some and we'll use it.

As I am not a customer of yours so I can not leave Feedback, but I have commented on your service before.

I could then survey my customers and say I had 100% customer satisfaction, however in reality only 1 person in a 100 or 1% who has contact with the company would be satisfied.

Given I have an OL postcode I know you can't give me a quote, so I dont even bother to phone you. Perhaps you should turn a little focus on potential customers while still giving your existing customers good service.

But to clarify, the survey was conducted to assess the quality of our service (not whether we were cheapest or not for every quote) so it is correct to only survey those who have had the chance to experience our service for a period longer than just a quote phone call. Therefore, we asked our clients.

We're proud to sign up 1 in every 4 quotes which is very good for our industry. But if we had wanted to run a price survey of course we'd have had to include those people we didn't sign up.

As you say you're in an OL postcode which underwriters don't like because there is a high incidence of claims in your area. We can't change that but people need to realise that we're in business to make money by covering what we assess to be good risks. With car clubs there's a higher concentration of good risks but some members will still find the scheme doesn't work for them. Insurance is not a public service, where everyone is 'entitled' to the insurer's floor price all of the time.

To answer MrWoo, whoever told told you we only want high risk profile drivers was wrong. We DO want car club members who are true enthusiasts because you look after your cars and are statistically a SAFER class of driver. However, if you've had a really good quote that we're not prepared to go below we'll tell you. If you PM us your name, number and details of when you called we'll listen to the call recording and re-train that member of staff.

Hope this helps.

I would like to draw attention to Pookie's post and your reply.

To say you are, to quote "perfectly comfortable" with not being able to offer your services to a considerable section of this country is shocking. I know you claim your hands are tied by your underwriters - and whilst I do not know the full in's and out's or brokerage and underwriters - but what steps have you taken to resolve this? Have you contacted other underwriters who may be willing to take on the business, have you attempted to negotiate with your current underwriters to allow the banned postcodes?

Indeed what would you do if these underwriters imposed further restrictions on you? Maybe a low annual mileage cap of 5,000 miles. Cars are not to exceed a value of £5,000. Only drivers over 65 are allowed. Would you still be comfortable after they have excluded the majority of the driving population and left you olny a handfull of people with which you can do business?

I would also like to pose a question to you. You claim your underwriters won't insure people with an OL postcode which they don't like because there is a high incidence of claims in the area. What if other companies followed suit and did the same thing? We could see a situation where I am legally bound to have insurance yet due to where I live no insurance company will take my business or I will be at the mercy of a few insurance company's willing to take business but who will charge vastly inflated premiums.

The Insurance industry in this Country has an extremely poor reputation amongst the general public. The only reason you still have an industry is due to legislation which forces us to do business with you, otherwise I imagine the industry would nearly be out of business. I for one, am fully hoping that a outside body gets involved in looking at the working pratices of Insurance companys and brings in legislation to stop the dubious practices that happen.

Your attitude in your reply to Pookie's post is appalling to say the least. You had a chance to stand out from the crowd and improve your company's image, but it seems your perfectly happy with being seen as worse as theives.

If the restrictions on the OL postcode are lifted or if I ever move to a postcode which isn't restricted, rest assured it is highly unlikely that you will see my business.
Whilst I will commend you on getting the Postcode ban lifted, again it is your service which is lacking. Primarily you never mentioned the ban had been lifted until I asked, but all credit that you have specified upfornt that there are parking restrictions in place for some postcodes. I know it may not be possible to list it all for people to read but at least they have been forewarned.

If you look at my comments above, you choose to simply ignore the issue rather than addressing it. It doesn't reflect well on you or your company. Had you conversed a bit more with members, expressed regret rather than comfort at not being able to include everybody, and stated some action that you were taking to resolve the issue then perhaps you would not have alienated a section of the forum.

I've just renewed my insurance so I will not be contacting you this year. Whether I give you a ring next November will all depend on how you reply to this and other comments you leave on the forum.

I bought my insurance through Chris Knott this year - saved over £300 compared to what A-Plan were quoting me for renewal, and cheaper than all of the options via confused.com and the like.

I was so impressed with the way that they handled my calls, I have now insured my wife's car with them (saved £40 over A-Plan renewal price, despite it being the same underwriter) and recommended them to my parents. My Father has recently returned his licence to the DVLA due to a medical condition that has left him registered blind, meaning that my mother has taken over the insurance on their Golf. His previous insurer wanted pretty much the same amount from Mum as they had for Dad & Mum last year - Chris Knott saved them £40.

I have to say that I'm one of the first to complain when a company annoys me, but I'm not very good at thanking them publicly when they do well, but thought it only fair to add some balance to this thread due to the excellent service myself and my family have all received.

UPDATE: VIP SILVERSTONE TOUR FOR TWO courtesy of VOCt Insurance...

I asked my bosses if they'd offer a prize draw in conjunction with the above offer to finish off the year (which is usually a quieter time for us) and they've agreed.

So anyone who gets a VOC Car Insurance quote between now and January 31st 2014 will automatically be entered into our prize draw for a VIP Tour of Silverstone for two.

Prize Details
You'll go behind the scenes of the world-famous stadium to discover areas that the public aren't normally allowed to see. You'll access buildings that are reserved for the F1 teams, their sponsors and race officials, including Race Control where you'll enjoy a spectacular view of the finish line. Enter the Drive Workshop, where you’ll find a range of iconic vehicles, including Ferraris, Porsches, and a fleet of single-seater race cars being prepared for the track. Then it’s onto the winner’s podium for a must-have photo opportunity before rounding off your visit with a guided tour of the famous Grand Prix circuit.

How To Enter
All you have to do is give us a call for a new quote before January 31st 2014. We're currently signing up 50% of all quotes offered which means we're more competitive now than we've ever been. You could SAVE MONEY on your car insurance and WIN the VIP Tour of Silverstone.

Please call VOC Insurance if your current cover expires in the coming couple of months. Even if you're not due until February you can still get your quote before January 31st to qualify.

Call FREE on 0800 023 4374 (or 01424 205077 for mobiles) and find out just how much you could save by switching to VOC Car Insurance.

It depends on the car - on a T5/D5/R we'd need you to be 23 with 6 months experience of the car but apart from that your age is fine.
