Xc 90 parking sensors
My parking sensors are working intermittenty. My local mechanic doesn't have the software to read problem. Was wondering has anyone fitted aftermarket flea bay sensors. They are about £18 each. Was thinking of replacing all of them thus hopefully eradicate the problem. Any thoughts?

I think there was an issue with water ingress in the loom wiring on some of the models I know mine had a problem- MY2007 and was replaced under warranty. Is it always worse after wet weather?
Perhaps there's someone on here local to you who has vida, or buy a cheap one off ebay which will pay for itself in no time. |

you get the 4 sensors , wiring loom and control unit ,. If you start changing individual items it could get more expensive than the kit .

I had an intermittent fault with my park assist and I understand that by using vida the offending sensor(s) can be identified, that was my next course of action, but I tried something in the interim which has seemed to work! This may only be a short-term fix if a sensor(s) are failing, but worth a try: Clean the surface of each sensor with Autosol metal polish, gently rubbing the surface in a circular motion. When done, you will have polish residue in the grooves around each sensor head, cut a piece of plastic about half inch wide from the lid of one of those plastic food containers your Chinese take-away comes in, and use this flexible tool to clean out the grooves. It bends nicely around the groove circumference and is a perfect fit in the groove, finish off by spraying glass cleaner from one of those handy bottles around each sensor. It is amazing how much dirt comes out of the groove, I reckon this is part of the problem! I did this about 3 weeks ago and haven't had the 'Park assist service required' message since. If it does return I'll be going down the 'genuine' kit route that Clan advises. Paul |
