Default Amazons in a breakers yard

I recently bought this Amazon on ebay

and when I took the bare shell to a local breakers I was astonished to find two early Amazons had just arrived in the yard. They are local cars and must have been standing outside for at least ten years.

The yard is Kirby's, Brickfield Road, Purdeys Industrial Estate, Rochford, Essex. It is owned by a classic car driver who has assured me that the cars will not be crushed for quite sometime to give enthusiasts a chance to pick them clean.

Its always amazing that there are still Amazons in scrap dealer yards. Great for finding odd parts. Not aware of any in scrapyards up in Scotland.

Nice to meet you at Gaydon, Brian - its always good to put a face to a name. Great pics, but is that a twin-carb B16 engine in the older car? Such manifolds are as rare as chickens teeth. Also the rear bumper of the newer car looks ripe for re-chroming, and is that boot packed with spares?

It never ceases to surprise me what people throw away. I can feel a long drive to Rochford on the cards......

Cheers.

The yard is only two miles from my home so if anybody wants anything they can see in the pics, send me a pm with a clear description of the parts wanted and an idea of what you are prepared to pay and and I'll go there next Tuesday to do my best to take the bits off, then we will need to sort out postage/delivery/collection.

Paul

Yes it is a twin SU manifold - I get it off. Who wants it?

Jacob

I'll get the bits for a much better price than if you call them for them to remove and post to you. It is one of those traditional yards where you can wander round and find your own bits.

I "think" Paul is after a B16 manifold but I "think", looking at the pics, that this is a B18 engine. The rocker cover on a B16 is much squarer with a ribbed pattern on it.

Paul

Can an expert with the model number help with the engine identification on the white one?

According to the model number 12234H the third digit says it should have a B16B, but I think the chassis number 101913 should have a B18. (August 61 - July 62). This date fits with the Reg no that was issued in Southend in 61-62.

DD

Yes there is but surprise surprise I couldn't find a key! Can it be got off without a key and without destroying it?
