Ellemann Jakobson - any info?
I have just acquired an Ellemann Jakobson rocker cover for my 121 in poor condition.
I can't find any info about them at all. Were they tuners? My Gunther and Wolf book doesn't mention them at all. Are their rocker covers rare? I had to pay a few quid for mine!

Hi Jon,
Did it come with an oil cap or will the standard one fit? |

Standard one fits, although I will need some longer screws to hold the cover on as it's deeper.

Elleman-Jakobsen was THE tuner in the 50's and 60's for Volvo's. He's from Denmark. It was a father and son company and their B16 rally engines were the fastest around at that time. They had a small factory in Sweden in a small town called Partille, near Gothenborg. They manufacterd their own cilinderheads, camshafts etc.Later they did the same with the B18 and B20's. They managed to get 200 reliable hp out of a B20! Halfway the 80's they specialiest, in cooperation with Volvo, in the 240 turbo's. Junior was still active in the Volvo world till about 6 years ago when his health started to play up.
I found this information in a Dutch oldtimer mag, auto motor klassiek from may 2007. It tells a story of a Dutch guy who restored such a B20 engine in a rally Amazon. He managed to get 186hp out of it with Solex carb's To bad I don't have a scan to show you some engine pics In my opinion you've got hold of the most beautyfull red rocker cover around! And probably one of the rarest... I think i'm jealous!

Oh, so they were originally red?
I've seen a picture of one sprayed black in an engine bay that's waaay too shiny, here: And here's mine, a bit worse for wear, but red.... Thanks for the info B20F, you're a minefield of useful facts.

Very smart. A coat of paint and a polish and it will look stunning under the bonnet. Lucky you.

Thanks for everyone's info, I was properly in the dark on that one..... Would love a EJ tuned engine though.... I bet they're worth obscene sums of money!
