Driver Seat Slightly Leans Towards Right and Back

Hi, My Volvo is 93 940 2.0T. The driver seat slightly leans towards right and back. It is annoying espacially in turns and giving back ache during long drives. I attached the picture. Is there a way to fix it?

Check the mounting bolts, mine had one come loose so was shifting around. Also, use the height/tilt lever to take it all the way to the top and bottom to ensure it's not skipped a tooth on one side or something.

also have a look at the seat railing itself. is it bent or cracked or completely broken at all?

Only back part of seat is tilted. Cushion part is sturdy and in good shape. Seat moves smoothly on rails.

          bent frame.

Happens when a large person leans forcibly back in the seat. Also in a rear end impact. The right hand side on your seat is a hinge with no locking support as the adjustment and locking are on the left. Hence the twist to the right.

That makes sense. Is it fixable?

climb in the back seat, put your feet up against the upper-right side of the driver seat and apply pressure. Check and repeat as necessary to acheive your desired level of comfort.

I think we all appreciate a good low tech solution!

If you want to make sure it's 100% straight you can use a spirit level.

Great advice:) One of my friends did what you said. Maybe he did not apply excessive force but it did not help. :(

If you prefer a more subtle approach it is fairly easy to remove the seat back cover. It is held together at the bottom by four hog rings. Undo these and slide it up to gain access to the frame and spot where it looks wrong. When refitting, use suitable cable ties to replace the hog rings.

It is also possible that the rake adjustment has got out of sync. Exactly how you fix this will depend on whether it is electrically or manually adjustable but the principle will be the same. You can access the gearboxes by unscrewing the plastic covers where the back hinges. By judicious dismantling, adjustment and reassembly of the mechanism you can realign the two sides. If it is electrically adjustable the flexible driveshafts from the motor (inside the seat back cover) are notorious for slipping and messing up the adjustment. I am pretty certain you have to partially remove the seat in order to access the gearbox on the transmission tunnel side but it is a while since I had to fiddle with one of these.
