    propshaft length

Are the auto and manual props the same length? as ive spotted a auto in a scrap yard but mine is manual and before I go spending time rolling about in the cold and mud, id rather know I'm not wasting my time removing it to find it doesn't fit

I'm fairly sure they are but which vehicle is it? I'm guessing it's a Volvo of some description but i know many moons ago certain Fords had different length props depending on engine, gearbox (even on manuals), auto or manual and other cars like the SD1 Rover used the same prop regardless of engine or gearbox.

I'm fairly sure Volvo stuck to the "sensible option of one prop fits all" on the 7xx and probably the 9xx but i also know the 3xx had a different prop for different engine sizes (before i get corrected i know it was a torque tube rather than a propshaft per sé) so it's pretty impossible to say for sure.
    Cheers
    Dave

Front are different lengths between the ZF22 and M90.
AW71 and M46 are probably different too.

        Rear is the same length.
Classicswede/Dai Brace problems, issues, engine build fail, and he can't weld!

I sell chips for 940 Turbos!

            740 M46 front prop length is 20 1/8 inches.

            940 M90 front prop length is 29 1/4 inches.

As measured from the 3 bolt flange:

^^AW71. Don't have any measurements for that but but another thing to remember is they are 4 bolt without a rubber 'giubo'.
