    960 with missing Nivomats

I know this has probably been asked before...
But after having my 1991 960 estate for a few weeks now I have seen she is dragging her arse on the ground.
I have jacked her up and realised that as usual someone has swapped the original equipment nivomats out and swapped them with standard shocks.
My question is, is their a compromise like another levelling system rather than swap to non nivomat rear springs?
I have a pair of spring assisters coming soon to tied me over, as I have done this on a similair 940 before with good results.

I looked around for ages for a compromise , just got fed up one day with it all and ordered a new pair of nivomats problem solved !
I also tried spring assisters for a bit but it didn't really solve the problem.

Either fit normal/cargo springs or you could use air shocks

What air shocks could I fit as I am really struggling to find something other than nivomats (which due to the cost are out of the question) or change it to normal estate springs and shocks?

Does anyone know of any air adjustable shocks that will fit?

        Thanks

I have adjustable GAZ coilovers on the back on mine as my Nivos were shot, half the price and I can change the spring rates on them

SC, frankly you will be better off with the Nivomats which gives you the benefit of self adjusting for different loads. I suggest you contact Steve at Braydons and see what price he can offer you. I replaced mine on my 1993 960 at about 120000 and we are now up to about 350000 and they are still good.

First thing to say is if you go for standard replacement shocks you'll also need to fit standard springs. As far as i can tell, the springs for Nivomats are longer and softer than standard to allow the mechanism inside the Nivos to work correctly.
This "over-works" standard shocks and also the standard shocks don't have the lift that Nivos do.

Second, if you replace the back end springs and shocks with normal, you'll probably find you'll want to do the fronts soon after. The front springs and shocks seem to be much softer on Nivo cars than normal. If it's any consolation i got all for corners (springs and shocks) for about £125 on my 760 and the 940/960 was listed as using the same. We all know ebay sellers get things wrong from time to time so check the listing carefully before hitting "Buy it Now".

All that said, i don't need to carry heavy loads regularly, sometimes big/bulky stuff that's relatively light and on a daily basis, my hounds. As such the standard springs and shocks suit me fine.
However, if you are carrying heavy loads regularly then Nivos is probably the way to go. Either that or standard springs/shocks and buy a cheap van to use/abuse! ;) :D
              Cheers
