The bloke doing the work on at the moment said he can't read anything from the port. I know there are tutorials on making your own reader and that's probably something I'll do in the future, but right now I need an immediate answer. So any help would be great.

1998 940 OBDII port
Does anyone know if you need any special software/hardware to read any diagnostic info from this port? I've got an ABS light staying on with this car and I need to find the reason yesterday.

No, the diagnostic box is super easy to build: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=61562. If you're in a mega rush then either Volvo or a specialist might have one if you're desperate. I know a specialist in the Swindon area that might be worth phoning, they knew how to adjust my K-jet fuel injection so they're competent with cars of this era.The Eurotrash:
