Sold for around £1900 a few weeks ago and now they're trying to make a big profit on it.

      Wasn’t it in Southampton before?

If it sells for £3k , it doesn’t seem a massive profit. Chesterfield is a decent distance from Soton.

I can think of less risky ways to make a few bob!🤔

      I don’t think it’s particularly expensive. I loved mine!😀

A lot of people buy stuff to sell.

            What’s wrong with that? 🧐

The attempts at eBay (and other sites) profiteering happen a lot. This one looks to be the milder end of the spectrum if he makes about 60%.

The one that sticks in my mind was the white 960 estate a couple of years ago which was initially advertised for about £700 as a family runaround with a twelve year history of short journeys in and around London, being serviced on an ad hoc basis. The original seller was only moving it on because of the ULEZ extension. It then appeared a couple of months later for £6k having spent the past twelve years being cosseted in a "private collection". A 750% profit it he pulled it off; and I pity the unsuspecting purchaser.

In the past couple of months I've seen a carburettor part which would be relevant to another car in my collection initially advertised on Facebook for £50 only to reappear a few weeks later on eBay at £350. A mere 600% profit.

I've no objection to informed business people who add a bit of value to a transaction making up to, say, 100% profit. But the bottom-feeders looking for a quick 500% plus return for doing nothing? Well, let's hope the taxman catches up with them!

I offered £2k for it but it was rejected. I think he’d probably take £2500. No proof of belts though which is a pricey job on these.

If anyone wants a slightly rougher one for £1800 let me know.

He paid £1920 and then had to wash it and drive it a few hours so £2000 he would only be breaking even after insurance and fuel etc.

These are like hens teeth and on the right day can fetch silly money

We were on a fair old jaunt yesterday 260 miles round trip.

After finally changing the timing belts, pulleys, IP timing, erg mod etc the car is running better than at any other time from when we bought it. Previous to yesterdays run I had been travelling two hrs per day for two weeks and the car was obviously enjoying it, as the tick over is now smooth when hot and has increased slightly

But after yesterdays trip it had possibly cleared out something, because the pick up in each gear was very smooth with no lag what so ever. Maybe the effects of a seriously blocked air filter from when I bought it and short journeys. Have previously thought the old girl to be a plodder, not anymore, drives, fresh and spritely.

I can see, why they are much sought after cars, they are an absolute treat to drive, when everything is in tune ........ This one is not for sale lol

They’re great,I agree. I kept mine five years, went to France a few times and when I reached my destination after a couple of hundred miles it ticked over silkily.

                          If I had the room , I’d have another!👍

Mine is running like a peach at 308k. Drove it to Sheffield and back the week before last, 10hr round trip in a day. Was a joy and didn’t miss a beat! I think long slogs seem to smooth them out a touch, maybe it clears a bit of varnish off the injectors or decokes them a touch. Either way, mine likes it!
