    M41/40 rear bearing/oil seal housing

Does anybody have a spare M40 rear seal cover from a defunct box going cheap?

Am looking to build up a M41 D type as a spare from parts; I have the longer main shaft, gearbox extension, fabricated the OD lock out defeat tab on 4th gear selector shaft and drillled/tapped the higher case oil filler hole.
What I'm missing is the bearing retaining plate between the gearbox and the extension tunnel, so need to see if a M40 version can be adequately converted by deleting the flange seal.
Believe the M41 part is 380445, and for both M40/41 the parts diagram is labelled no.13.

Obviously interested in original M41 part in the rare event anybody has that spare.
And a D type OD if knocking around.

    thanks

    Jim

    Hi,
I have a box containing the remains of dismantled M41 gearboxes. The part that you are seeking is not there. However there is one M40 item shown in your image, it has the speedometer output. I have offered the M40 housing up to the box to overdrive spacer. I would say the M40 housing will need a fair amount of work to adapt it to fit the spacer. Cover the post and a small charity donation would take it if you consider it to be of some use.

Very good of you to take the time to look.
I fear I'll have little alternative than try to adapt the M40 version, so yes...let me know what you want paid and how? Delivery would be TN20 6BW.
Also to complicate things, I believe the rear bearing had two versions...not sure of the difference between them....does the bearing retainer have the old bearing associated still which may give the appropriate code it originally fitted?

      thanks

        Hi Jim,
If you want the housing it still holds the bearing and the speedo drive gear. Not had it weighed but I’m allowing £6 for post and £15 for kidney research charity. PM sent for payment.
