OK .. with the wonderful diagrams I finally got the lower cover off :-) :-)

...the front bolt on the alternator bracket just wouldn't come out no matter how low or high I have the engine so I managed to get the last cambelt bolt out without removing it completely.

The sensor was very oily (very oily in there in general actually which I'm assuming isn't a great thing) so I gave it a good clean up plugged everything back in and tried to fire him up .. still the same, so sensor is knackered or it is something else after all this.

As predicted the ECP part is nothing like what I actually need so that has to go back and I'm now after MR560132 (Mitsu part) or J5T20171 (Volvo part I think) - everything seems to be US/China based on eBay so can anyone recommend a parts place in UK who might be able to get me one pronto?

    Cheers!!!!

Thanks, that's more like what ECP supplied. Mine however is bolted to the block then it's connector clicks into a socket on the back of the cam cover which presumably has internal wiring leading to another moulded socket which the loom plugs into. Did they change the design at some stage?

I wouldnt take notice of parts drawing pics. too much it is the part number that counts.

            Thanks :-)

...£110+VAT, car is worth £200 on a good day so I think it's the end of Bjorn after all of that - I'll post a wanted in here just in case, every breaker I have contacted cannot help and I don't fancy a 3 week wait from eBay to find out it's not that either.

            Cheers!
