Would anyone know which way round the coloured bands on the resistor goes?? It's been a few years since I've used them!

What exactly are you trying to do ??

The air bags are an important part of the cars safety system and tampering with them, or their associated warning system would be considered as an act of gross negligence by any insurance claims investigator. That could make you liable for the consequences and even if you did want to do such a silly thing, asking questions in a public forum about how to disable part of the warning system is one bad idea, as such posts could be used to identify that you were responsible.

A lot of owners forget that when an insurance company has to pay out for a serious accident, they will take a good look to see if there is any way they can make a claim against another party to get some of their money back, including the holder of the policy. So if for some odd reason you do need to delete part of the system, you should inform your insurance company first to see if your policy is still valid.
In an accident it will be obviuos if the air bag system did not function correctly, so any investigator would make specific checks to see why it failed and they are no fools, so would almost certainly find the resistor.

Faults with the SRS system are one of the few ones that are best left to a Volvo dealer to correct.

the car will be coming off the road soon and caged for track use, disabling the airbags will be the last thing I do before taking it off the road. I'm just collecting information at the minute
