Turbo upgrade

hey all,

i've been toying with the idea of upgrading my turbo on ma t4 but not 2 sure wot turbo 2 go for or wot turbo is best for ma v40?

Depends on lot of things and what you want. Move away from TD04 and you are looking at adapters, manifold changes, oil line changes, water line changes etc. Easiest option IMO is to go for hybrid. Plenty of folk who can machine the housing to take a larger compressor wheel or what I did and get a 19t hybrid from here. Mine actually came via guy on 30forty50 forum in Australia. Been on car best part of year now and no issues at all. Direct fit. Running at 1.5bar and done about 8k miles on it.

cheers for that grant, i did come across this on ebay, its there much turbo lag with this turbo?

coz when i changed the turbo on ma rover from a t25 to a t28, there was a bit of lag there

Difference from a standard 14t is negligible - being a twin scroll helps. Finish and fit were fine and reliability doesn't seem an issue (it does get warmed up gradually and I do use a turbo timer on cool down but that can be done with sensible driving!) Could do a lot worse for £430! And after all, Volvo is Chinese now!!!!!!!

This is something ive been toying with as well.
Ive been told that a td04hl 16t will fit with some modification.

I dont have the slightest idea how much modification but its certainly something im considering.

If cost is not an option go with the one on the ebay link.

I will purchase a 16t at some point soon as cost are just over £100 and they seem to go well on the 2.3 volvo's.

If i can find someone capable of mating the 16t with the 14t i will let you know
