1.8 not GDI stuck at 4000rpm
Hi guys, need some advice please. I have a 1.8 petrol (not GDI) s40 with170,000 miles on it. Today the engine reved to 4000rpm and stayed there, very scary!!
managed to get it home. Had another look once it had cooled down and it started and idled ok. The throttle pedal seems free enough and not sticky, cable is in place on the throttle housing. my guess is build up of carbon on the butterfly, will check tomorrow... any thoughts? ta |

Checking and cleaning the throttle body is a good start.
