Newbie Needs Help
Hello All!
I have just purchased a N reg 440 GLT with an automatic. I am attempting to remove the drivers side CV Shaft, to no avail. I have the Haynes manual, but it says that it should come off with a gentle levering?!? After much levering, it remains attached to the car! Any Help would be greatly apreciated. Forgot to mention that I think the transmission is from a J reg, not sure but the trans was changed before I acquired the car and the previous owner said that it came from "a car that was a couple of years older" The reason that I'm changing it is because the trans is leaking and was told the shaft was too short, so I'm trying to remove it to take it in and have it compared/measured to seee if it is the right lenght. ive had this couple times,my way of dealing with it was after removing shaft from hub ect.. place couple pairs of molegrips around shaft, then give it a good whack with an hammer, the shock usually shifts it, but i have had ones that have never come out! good luck
