Default Newbie Needs Help

Hello All!
I have just purchased a N reg 440 GLT with an automatic. I am attempting to remove the drivers side CV Shaft, to no avail. I have the Haynes manual, but it says that it should come off with a gentle levering?!? After much levering, it remains attached to the car!
Any Help would be greatly apreciated.
Forgot to mention that I think the transmission is from a J reg, not sure but the trans was changed before I acquired the car and the previous owner said that it came from "a car that was a couple of years older"
The reason that I'm changing it is because the trans is leaking and was told the shaft was too short, so I'm trying to remove it to take it in and have it compared/measured to seee if it is the right lenght.

Hi,

Welcome to the forums...
Enjoy your stay here..

I suggest you try a search in the technical forums for the 400 series and use CV for the search..
It is bound to have been covered before..

Des. . .

EDIT: Tried myself and could only see one topic vaguely related...
Linky....

Thanks for the help, but I have tried the search and haven't found anything like what I'm going through.

Does anyone have any ideas? This car is starting to become a pain in my A**!
