Well....they could see error codes - cleaned up the area, but no "active" fault found.....& sure enough, within 2 miles of me driving off, the error returned

That's 3 hours and 80 miles I won't be getting back!

.....& a return later for another look. Bah

Time to get it nailed before the warranty expires.

Electronics always a worry, a friends new model xc90 (8 months old) has spent more time at the dealers than she has had it due to warnings. Currently she is fighting to return it for another. Touch wood my 18 mth xc60 with all the toys is running fine.

I honestly think the XC60 Is much better built than the new XC90.

Paint problems, leaking rear screens, many electrical problems, road noise issues, poor seats. Overall build quality isn't impressive at all. A cheap car dressed as a Range Rover rival. Which it definitely isn't.

I fear for the next XC60 and Volvo in general.

hoping not to tempt fate!

I admit my XC60 doesn't have the optional gizmo's, only options are Winter Pack, 20" Wheels, Dark windows, Towbar and Polestar. The car has been used pretty well over the last 4 years, just turned 70,000 a few days after 4th anniversary.

In that time it has had 1 failure, the turbo/intercooler pipe split at 54,000 miles, which is not uncommon it seems. The geartronic appears to have settled down again now its done 7,000 miles after the fluid change too. Still tows 1750 KG incredibly well, our friends complained last week they couldn't keep up whilst following in their Renault Laguna 2.0dci towing 1300KG :-)

Have a feeling the XC (aka Smirfmobile) will be in the family for some years to come, since we love the colour and D5 engine.
