Perhaps the guys in marketing should now call the estate something else such as a Shooting Brake (to use an old term) or something similar.
Or a hatchback they are more like them than an estate now.

Not sure about the T8, but the D5 and T6 electrical heaters (seats, wheel, screens, etc) will only come on if the engine is running (via RES or a normal start) because of the high current demand that these heaters create. It's theoretically possible that the T8 could use the mains supply as a source of current for the electrical heaters but perhaps that is too difficult to implement as the mains supply charges the 400V battery but the heaters run off the 12V supply.

Are you sure the wheel heater has actually been on and that it's not just warm air from the vents that's warmed it up? I seem to remember that whilst the seats and wheel would come on (if cold enough) using RES, as soon as I started the engine proper the heaters switched off and had to be set on again manually. I could be wrong about this as it's been a few weeks since I was able to use RES but I'll check it next time it's cold enough. Also, just to confuse us more, I think the seat and wheel heaters don't show as 'on' on the Sensus screen after a RES even if they are actually on.

RES on my car used to put both heated seats and steering wheel on whatever the temp and if the temp was low enough the heated screens. In the past week it has only turned on the passenger seat and, if temp is low enough, the rear screen. They have remained on when I have entered the car and turned the start knob but I have had to switch on the drivers seat and heated steering wheel my self.

Also the heating used to come on, fans running, with RES at the previously selected temperature, now the fan remains off until I turn the start knob.

This seems to have been since the car was in for the "roll-back" of software last week..

More problems for the service tech to look into!

You may have to reset all your settings in "my car" etc, all your old settings may have been reset to defaults during to roll back.

Thumbs up

Thanks nu11eaf, I have checked the settings and they seem to be OK. I might take them all out for a couple of days then put them back in, se if that works.

Preconditioning in my T8 turns on heated seats/screens and it doesn't need to be connected to mains.

Interesting. Perhaps then it's drawing power from the 400V battery for this in which case it's reducing the available all-electric range but perhaps only by a small amount given the capacity of the 400V battery.
