Have just had my V70 auto back from an ETM clean and new software download.
Started car and revs ticked over at 2000rpm. Back to service desk ! Told this was normal and would settle down in time as the unit was now clean (no carbon build up ) Surprised. I asked if all new cars off the production line with clean ETM's reved so highly for the first week !! mechanic came out and we went for a test drive - did actually seem to settle to 1000rpm . Now I am driving it there is not as much engine braking as before and the engine appears to take time to settle at tick over. Are Volvo pulling the wool over my eyes again ? will it settle ? Am I going to need a new unit in a weeks time ? |

If you check the ETM section of this forum you'll find a post from me where I had exactly the same issue and concerns. It does settle down in the end (mine took almost 2 weeks). They have basically done a full reset on the ECU and it needs to relearn its settings.
