V40 CC tyre specs?
Hi
I was wondering if any one has a definitive answer on the correct tyre spec for a D3? size is 225/50r17 - its that load and speed rating I am trying to tie down. We had a puncture at the weekend so had to use the squirt repair and as we now have to replace the tyre am looking to do a pair. Current tyre are 98y - which seems nonsense and I am going to move to an all weather/season type, so changing the full set in time. Different tyre sites have come up with everything from 93 - 98, and H -W in varying combinations as being suitable. Volvo dealer said, "we don't know, it does not show on our system. we could ask a tyre dealer" - WTF regards

I would ask the dealer to confirm which tyres ship with the vehicle and ensure you buy ones with a load index and speed rating the same or higher.

Hi
Yes speed rating must be wrong (higher than needed) - Y is 186mph... I think a V (149mph) but am getting all sorts advised. And as I said above the dealer doesn't have a clue ... which is beyond belief

Best to check in the handbook or with dealer and use that speed rating, any deviation from specification could void your insurance in case of an accident.

Hi
Not falling foul of some dodgy insurance assessor is my reason for posting here. As mentioned in my first post the dealer has said they don't know (nothing listed in the parts system apparently or on the vehicle build spec) and have suggested that they ask a tyre dealer. Depending on the tyre dealers I have contacted / web searched suggested ratings (speed and Load) are all over the place...and therefore I have to suspect depends on what they have in stock / can make the most money on. The handbook gives no guidance or spec. the pages on tyres just explain what the ratings are but does not give a spec - just refers one to the dealers (see above) I have also now spoken to Volvo UK cust services, who could not tell me immediately but promised to look it up an come back to me within 24hrs - overdue and still waiting....

Most Volvo dealers supply and fit tyres. Not sure if this is your nearest dealer but perhaps the above link will help? If you enter the registration number it should give you details of the tyres to fit your car. |

thanks for the suggestion ...
I didn't like to name names - but it was City Motors that I spoke to. (& bizarrely, given that link, they've told me they don't do tyres in house they use a local independent round the corner...)

If you have numerous option on the sites it is because you can take the needed spec or anything above.
Anything from the list should be fine. Period. |

These (Goodyear all seasons vector 4 gen 2)get a good write up and will be on my list if I need a new set. Not sure if it'd be safe to just put on a pair though.
Be interested to hear how you get on - worth a new thread methinks. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accesso...-2-tyre-review |
