  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way
  • AOL Customers: Make sure you check the 'Remember me' check box otherwise the AOL system may log you out during the session. This is a known issue with AOL.
  • AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net users. Forum owners such as us are finding that AOL, Yahoo and Plus.net are blocking a lot of email generated from forums. This may mean your registration activation and other emails will not get to you, or they may appear in your spam mailbox

Had a text today from my dealer Paul Rigby to contact them so they could carry out Field Action R39917
Rang and booked for Friday Morning asked what it was and told Software Install that should take an Hour or so
Sounds like a Full Install to me

Anyone else had a notice or know what this is??

Yes, R39917 is a safety recall under DVSA reference R/2018/TBC according to the letter I've received from the supplying dealer.

It applies to all models with Volvo On Call fitted from model years 2017 to 2019.

It's a software upgrade to the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM) as in the event of an accident Volvo On Call may give an incorrect location to the emergency services. In addition you may experience a loss of position in the navigation system. I've had this happen on just one occasion since I bought my V90 in July 2017 and was informed by the dealer that a software update was being produced.

You should be able to check if this, or any important safety recall is outstanding either by entering your reg on the DVLA site or your VIN on the Volvo site.

However, Volvo site currently reports either "Incorrect VIN" (it isn't) or an "Invalid Connection" message for me.

So...mine should be subject to the recall it seems but the DVLA site says not...

I’ve even had 2-3 positional errors on the nav on occasions over the last 10 months

Haven’t tried the Volvo vin checker yet

Volvo IT deptartment strikes again, I used to get wrong vin as well now page wont even open to put it in,

It was my dealer who sent me the recall notice by recorded delivery.

If in doubt, call your dealer and they will tell you if your car is affected via your reg number.
