PCV system renewal on 2.0 850 10v

I mainly do short journeys in the car, and wanted to know if it’s worth going through the cost and time in renewing the PCV system on the 2.0 10v B5202FS engine. I mainly see people doing job this on the Turbo or 20v models, which have a much cheaper kits available (no kits for 10v).

It's worth doing if it's blocked. If it's not blocked then there is no point, it's that simple.

Does it pass the rubber glove over the oil filler hole test? Should try and suck it in not blow it up. Any smoke from the dipstick tube? You can try the glove on that too.

Thanks for your replies..

I did the glove test finally, <see attached pictures> and looks like its not too bad, just the glove finger on the dipstick tube seams to be inflating, but I didn't see any smoke coming out of it. The last picture (Glove_test_5.jpg) is when the engine was running for 10min which has some oil inside the glove.

I also haven't noticed any oil spills, around the engine or under the spark plug cover.

Please let me know what you think.

Happy to be over ruled but I'd say you are OK. Perhaps give it an Italian tune up now and then to compensate for the low level, short journeys you say you do.

I am with you Derek, OP need not bother worrying for a good few thou

One thing I did learn a couple of weeks ago us do not attempt thus task in Covid times - owise you end up struggling for hours to save welded on hose elbows etc when in normal times you would snip them off and place an order !

Got there in the end though - no rush
