Have not used the 2002 D5 s60 , now no Turbo boost
I Have not used the 2002 D5 s60 for a few weeks, now There is no Turbo boost,
ihave a Boost Gauge fitted, i did see 2-3psi under load, but i only drove 3 miles so car is only just worming up, Has anyone had this Happen to them, i think it could be that the VNT assy could just be a bit stuck, i will take the car for a long run and get it nice and hot, Thanks Dave |

Hi
Yes , i agree that is the most likely thing . If it had been standing for a longer time i would suggest a perished vacuum hose . Of course we can`t rule out a pesky rodent has been nibbling so it`s worth checking anyway .

I Better update my findings, it has been raining a lot in sunny Hampshire,
so i have only tested it today and yes there was a ECM6805 Code, No turbo control, that would show up if the turbo linkage was stuck due to rust, but first i tested the ECU controlled vacuum Actuator That Euro 3 163bhp have fitted, i put a vacuum pump and gauge at the output between this (Vacuum switch) and the actuator on the Turbo and used VIDA to switch it, and there was no vacuum on the gauge, so i fitted another ECU controlled vacuum Actuator, That mounts on to the engine and it now seems ok, but will give it a good test as the VNTs have not been moved for some time, I have given the Turbo a good test and The car now has Good Boost, i have a real Boost gauge installed, and good boost control so all is good, happy i did not have to get under the car to free the linkage that was not the Problem, i dont know why just not using the car for about 3 months would make the Turbo control actuator (vacuum solenoid) Stick ? But all is good Now Dave Last edited by davebb; Nov 3rd, 2023 at 16:04. |

vnt or not
Hi Dave,
My S60 is doing something similar,, arghh!.. very low boost and engine service urgent message (although no engine shaped symbol on the dash).. Like you i wondered if the VNT not operating, although on mine its an electronic module (non vaccum) but suspect is doing a similar thing. Keep us posted on your findings.. |

Mine is fine now it was the vacuum solenoid, with yours you have swell flaps, look at these also test your actuator on the turbo. Dave |
