2001 V70 Fuel Line Replacement
Hello All.
Recently had to have my fuel filter forcibly replaced due to the previous garage breaking the press points for the fuel line from the filter to the back of the engine, this lead to the clips breaking completely and unable to re-attach back onto the new filter. The garage I was at did a lash up to get me home by splitting the fuel line and inserting a smaller pipe and jubilee clipping both ends (picture attached). This got me home, unfortunately that evening, the car started ok then stopped. smelling petrol I investigated the fuel line and can see the pipe they used was clearly not rated for high pressure and basically blew an inch long hole in the line. So, I've managed to get a replacement part from Volvo (30683029), I really hope this is the correct part as it took 3 weeks to get here and cost £170 To replace this line, as the car can't be driven to a garage I'd have to get it recovered, is it a case of tracing the line back, unclipping from the back of the engine and just running the new line in its place? I'm very much an armature but have built up tools over the years and have done my own servicing, breaks suspensions etc do am a little practical. |

Describe the fuel line.
Is it a rubber hose for its entire length or does it have metal sections? Do see if you can trace and see the run back to the filter. Just because their emergency repair failed doesn't mean the correct rated hose can't be used successfully. There are kits with the fuel filter adaptive ends on 2 foot long sections of pipe but you don't need those now...as you have the part. Lay it out and have a good look. Raising the vehicle safely on jack stands (safety stands in the UK) will help. |

axle stands is the common usage
bit weird though seeing as you never put them under an axle |
