Engine & box out as one or not?
I'm almost ready to swap the B200fT and auto box in my 940, for a B230FT & M90 manual BUT should I remove and then fit the engine and box assembled or spit them?
Also interested in how the manifolds, turbo, alternator impede the job, should I remove them first? |

If you want to change both engine and box I'd pull them out/reinstall together. Easier than fighting it in the car.
Ideal time for a clutch flywheel upgrade too if you're into that kind of thing. |

Thank you Mertz, together it seems simpler.
I've only got the dual mass, no clutch or pressure plate, so single mass is tempting, thinking of the kit from Classic Swede but it's a big chunk of my budget. |

Hi griston64, I most likely will be moving on the B200 bits and pieces but going to be a few months yet, just want to make sure the B230 doesn't have any problems. I'll be in touch once the time comes.

If you can live with some rattles on the overrun, it's a fantastic setup and whilst a lot of money, it's good value for the money spent if that makes sense. Very happy with my TTV and 850R clutch setup, especially when changing out the T cam it really revs much easier now.

Definitely take out as one and fit back in as one, you can leave the turbo etc on as the exhaust manifold, inlet manifold and thermostat housing nuts hold the engine lifting eyes on to the engine.
I've converted mine from automatic to M90 and done a few engine in and out jobs including a B200F and M47 to a B230FK and M90 so feel free to give me a shout if you need advice on any of it. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=290481 There might be some useful information on there for you. I put the dogfish flywheel on mine and it rattles badly on overrun especially in 2nd but it's worth it for the throttle response improvements. The TTV flywheel and 850R setup appears to start slipping around 300hp and the associated torque that comes with that power, so if you're aiming for more you will need the stronger Sachs pressure plate which if memory serves is called the Sachs 707 pressure plate, this should give it a bit more clamping force. I'm yet to get to that power myself but it won't be long before I do, I have been looking in to it and a few people are finding the TTV and 850R setup slip so it's not just a one off thing.
