XC60 2.4 D Drive SE - it's here.
Look delivery of my much anticipated XC60 2.4 D Drive SE yesterday - anyone who is not sure of the effect of the new engines - my advice would be go and get one !
Mine is the single turbo 175 bhp 2wd engine - and it is very refined. FRiend came around last night and he got shot of his V70 D5 for an Audi Q5 - and after driving mine he commented that there was no comparison to the D5 - the new engine being far quieter smoother and powerful - with very little lag. The 205 bhp engine must really go some as even the 175 has some beans about it. The manual gearbox which I had not tried before is very short-throw 6 speed with a good light clutch. Will try and take some photos and upload them later!

I picked up my 2.4D Drive 175 today. Have to say the manual box is a delight and the new engine is superb - it is a fast, powerful car. The D5 must fly. This is the most refined car I have driven - very glad I chose it over the Q5.
Looking forward to taking it on a decent run down to the coast tomorrow... |

Nice!
What does the driv"e" stuff give you on the XC60? I thought it was for the "green" cars with the 1.6d engine and low rolling resistance tyres etc? Cheers, John |

The "DRIVe" does indeed denote the allegedly greenish credentials - 48 mpg - 150 quid car tax. Its only available as a 2wd version of the new 175 bhp single turbo new engine - comapred with the twin turbo 205 bhp 4wd version of the same engine available in the rest of the XC60 range.
Only done 100 miles so far and already indicate 42 mpg ! PS - do I need to run this in for the first 1000 miles ?

Nice one!!
Sapphire Black? Same as mine in such case. As a note, I have just passed 900 mls in my D5 and while the engine is great with plenty of pull etc, the fuelconsumption is pretty good too, considering the fact that it weights almost 2000 kgs and have a AWD system. At a steady 75 it'll do about 42-45 mpg. The actual average readout is only 28.8 mpg so far, but then my car only had 9 mls on the clock when I collected her. Running in?? Well, as I mentioned in a different thread, most people will tell you not and some thing differently. Do like the germans, pedal to the metal from day 1. Anything breaks, you are covered under warranty. Good point. However, you can also think like this..... You have a new engine. You also have a new gearbox. These two have never worked together and suddenly we are asking these two to agree with each other from day one. Perhaps ok, perhaps not. Personal choice really if you want to be kind or show who's boss!
