My 1997 V70 T5 has decided not to start today after I finished work! I`ve had the car 3 years, and it has not once failed, or even struggled to start. Today, it is just turning over again and again, not even offering to fire. Initially, I thought I must have run out of fuel (the reader said 50 miles, so should`ve been plenty in) but I put another £10 in, and still not starting. White sludge on the dipstick, but I only use the car for short journeys to and from work, so I imagine this is just as a result of this.
Anyone got any miracle answers for me. Cheap ones would be nice ![]() Thanks, Rob |

Hi,
I would check the connections to the coil and also listen for the noise of the fuel pump as you turn the ignition on, it should be heard briefly pumping up. Another possible cause would be the alarm/ immobiliser, have you tried setting and resetting it, fixer |

Thanks for the reply. I`ve tried the alarm, and it doesn`t seem to be that. The fuel pump is also working as it should. I`ve not tried the coil though, so will give this a check in the morning and let you know the result.
thanks again |

this happened to a friends 850 with a 2.5 20v engine there is a small white pipe the goes from the vacuum tree to the map sensor mounted on the slam panel above the radiator and it was full of ice and when cleared it started as it normally would. just some thing else to check.

Cam sensor in the end! Took a while to find out what was causing the issue, but fired straight away again with a new sensor on!
Has anyone had to buy a cam sensor before? NOT CHEAP! |
