850 alarm
i managed to put the keys for my 96 t5 through the wshing machine , hence the remote key fob is nackerd. i have purchased another but it will not programme , i think it is because 4 diffrent fobs have been used and thats all that can be programmed. ( i had 2 original when i purchased the car 6 yrs ago but they were both iffy and im sure ive had another two since. i have managed to get the car going by removing a fuse .
my question is can the alarm be reset to recognise the new remote and if so does anyone know somewhere london area |

RE: 850 alarm
Check back in the archives (fairly recently) as there has been quite some correspondence on this subject. The only problem is which key fob do you have? Is it grey with one button or grey with two buttons, or black with two buttons. IIRC in all cases the way to match the fob to the car is to switch the ignition on, then off, four times, then on in straight sequence. With the ignition in it's fifth on state press the fob button for one second. Switch off ignition and you should then find that the fob will lock/unlock and set the alarm in it's usual manner. All the best, Peter. |

You need to match the fob to the car first before you can programme it. All the best, Peter. |

RE: 850 alarm
I bought a new fob from Braydon in November for my 96T5 about £40ish, there are two part numbers, so its a 50/50 and I was firstly given the wrong one. The correct part number for mine was 9442983, this then as described earlier tuned to the car using the ignition on/off sequence.
In my case both remotes packed up and a well helpful guy at Braydon reset the big relay above the steering column in the foot well, you cant miss it. |

RE: 850 alarm
Thanks for the information which points out where the fault is if all fobs no longer respond. That is very useful indeed and is duly noted in my VolvoGuard manual. All the best, Peter. |
