Default Memory Mirrors

Hi,

Im wondering if anyone couls shed any light on the strange fault my drivers mirror has developed.

All of a sudden it has a mind of its own, by that I mean when I unlock the car with the key fob it will quite often set its self to a random position.

I've tried setting the position in the memory and that deosnt seem to help.

Recently some scumbag decided they would take a swipe at the mirror which did break the 'black plastic' part of the mirror. Thats all back in place but im not 100% sure the fault started immediatly after that.

Any common faults or thoughts?

Happy Christmas all....

Scot

To confirm one thing first, are you 100% sure you are using the same key fob? As each time you lock, the memory is set against that particular fob.

Hi Viper,,

It is indeed the same fob, I use the one and my wife the other (I like that idea as I always hated moving the seat back for me!! lol)

Not tried it with her key fob in all honesty, but the memory of the seat works ok from my key fob leading me to believe that its not the fob thats the issue.

Also the seat memories 1,2 and 3 work ok (other than the mirror doing what it wants)

I've recently started experiencing the same problem! If my missus has been driving and I unlock the car with my keyfob, when I open the drivers door, the seat goes into my position correctly, but sometimes the drivers mirror will start pointing up to the sky as far as it will go until I can hear the motor straining. It eventually stops and I can manually set it back to its correct position. It is very strange and only does it 1 in 10 times approx???...

you need to get the fault codes read , pontentiometer problems can be there in which case a new mirror motor will be required

Cheers for that in CLAN,, I will have a closer look at the motor to see if the problem is within.
