Default LPG problems

How old are the spark plugs?

LPG doesn't like worn out plugs, and will not run with tired plugs that are otherwise OK with petrol.

If the plugs have done more than 10,000 miles on LPG then they're due for a change.

I'm a bit surprised your LPG man didn't suggest this to be honest, but if you know for sure that the LPG system is good then it has to be electrical.

Bosch Superplus with single point electrodes work well. Multi-points will give trouble on LPG in time.

Cheers

Not very helpful but...

Do you always fill up at the same garage? I reckon I had a bad oily tank of gas and I had identical problems but eventually they resolved themselves and the car runs normally now. If you always fill up at the same place perhaps the gas is not the best quality? I reckon that the oil slowly worked it's way through the system and was burnt away leaving the system without further blockage.

I know that all LPG has some oil in it...

If the problems got worse not long after the service then it is quite possible they fitted platinum plugs. LPG and platinum plugs do not mix so well and can cause problems.

Is the car a factory fit or converted car? If converted what system does it have?

Absolutely agree - copper-core single elctrode plugs are best - and also just about the cheapest too!

Hi, My 02 plate S60 bi-fuel is doing pretty much the same, it misfires between 55-70 seems to be getting a little bit worse, when i run on petrol it runs like a dream. I'm guessing the service was not completed on the LPG as you either have to take it to a specialist or volvo, not many people will touch volvo lpg systems. I had the plugs changed which has not resolved the issue but has helped, this is positive and tells me it may not be anything to serious, best taking it to lpg specialist and having it serviced, pressure tested and filters changed. Im doing the same.
