Its so sad to see the car in that condition, trust me if you got it back on the road you wouldn't regret it. It really doesnt look that bad.

Find it hard to believe the chassis rails are rotten, never seen that on a 200 series in 20 years of messing around with them!

Seen rotten chassis on a 740, mine in fact, spent happy hours with a torch, lying outside in the snow & ice last winter welding them up!

My dad had one a few years back same as that silver and a manual 2.7 and we did a lot of work on it and it was a nice car
To be honest you would have to love them to restore one they rot like a pig basically anywhere bertone put a saw to it or put vynil on it .The v6 will almost defo be shot, most are parked up due to headgasket/liner or oil/camhaft problems.

i doubt you would get your money back unless you are very lucky.
As i said , nice car but an aquired taste

The trim and badges are of value but the expensive items are the front and rear screen i belive its impossible to get them new.

saying all that i would like to see it restored.

Im not up for that, I havent got the money or patience which goes into restoring something like you boys do. Someone offer me the right money and they can spend their time and effort restoring it, I dont mind letting it go for restoration but I wouldnt mind racing one either? Money talks!

There you go people! Who's up for it?

I'm in the middle of restoring a 262, and I have 3 other project volvos and no garage so I feel no shame in dodging this one!

Like I said this one looks better than mine did when it was first dragged out of a field!

There are enough rotters knocking about as it is. Get it raced... and post pics.

Besides, dont you 262 boys want some cheap spares for your restos?

Doesn't sound like he plans on them being that cheap!

Rather than smashing it to bits, I always like the idea of building a track car, the low roof line & two door body shell, should be really stiff.

Put a stonking engine in it, lower & uprate it, roll cage etc, get it into a classic touring car series or something similar.

But anyway back to reality, come on people make the guy an offer!

I dont want mega bucks just to cover the cost, I dont know what the parts are worth, bid me! I dont pay for any of my cars that I race which is why i need to recoop the cost of the car, I will make it look pretty and give it a good send off!

There was mention of that S reg 244 being broken on eBay. I can absolutely assure you that it wasn't a minter. It was owned by a banger racer who let me swap some panels about plus a few quid his way. Was quite an experience..

You've made aware the most likely source of a Volvo enthusiast who would take on a project like this and nothing has happened yet, but I do hope it's not unsavable. If it is only good for spares and fragging, please send me a PM about how much you want for those wheels..

Hope at least it gives some parts for other 262's to live a bit longer. I am a bit of a redblock volvo fan and would consider nothing else. If it was a 780 bertone turbo, now you're talking!! If it's not beyond repair maybe someone could do a nice conversion? I see a nice 760 or 940 turbo intercooler engine in there!! James
