Anybody split their intercooler?
Hi all,
This will also apply to the D5 (2005 on) engine. Basically my question is as the title says - has anyone with an 05-on diesel lump split the cooler? If anyone has split their 05-on cooler, can you tell me if the car was running stock boost or remapped. I understand the design of the intercooler was changed with the facelift, was this enough to avoid splitting? I've read plenty of threads with 02,03 and 04 split coolers, just wondered if the issue had been addressed with the newer ones. Thanks

*bump*
So NOBODY has managed to split the facelift intercooler then? One reason I'm asking is I was in touch with Allard in regards to an aftermarket cooler - I was quoted £275-375 depending on exact specs, they don't have details of the intercooler on record. I was wondering if anyone had split theirs and if so did they have the old one lying around which could be measured accurately to give us the chance of a good aftermarket cooler. Much cheaper than something from Forge etc - I have one of the first Forge FMICs on my Leon and that was just over £700 for that....

i would just retro fit a FMIC off another car, the frontera Diesel intercoolers are good for 300BHP which is more than enough for a d5, also it has a simple design which may fit in the volvo front end
