Interesting! In my car there's a threaded rod on the wheel arch that a scissor jack secures to with a wing nut.
Do the later jacks also have a ball-peen head that fits into a cup on the front and rear cross members?

That pic actually comes from a thread I started some time ago.
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=177926 See #6 of the thread. I subsequently came to the conclusion that that is not correct. I now stow it flat on the boot floor, with the handle on top - as shown later on, in #17of the same thread. I’ve had it that way ever since. That said, jack designs do seem differ, so different jacks may have to be stowed differently. |

Hi
So are you using just the one strap? Schmatic/parts list two straps, but does not show the position which is really frustrating! Quote:

Mine is sitting flat on the floor with the heel lodged at the extreme rear. It is locked in place in an almost made to measure compartment for the jack.

Yes.
The length of the strap I have is exactly right to hold the foot and head of the jack firmly against the boot floor and, at the same time, prevent the handle from swinging about. That is, in the #17 configuration. Like Dibble said in his yesterday’s post: almost made to measure. I’ve had the car since new and cannot remember there ever having been a second one of those straps. |

SO only one strap is used , what is the second strap used for as shown in the schematic items 29 and 30? would it be the tool roll?
