Default s60R Help

Failed its MOT today on a leaking fron strut nightmare.Quoted £450 for 1 shock absorber from volvo dealer. My questions are:-1. Anyone do a replacement cheaper. 2. Do /should I replace both at the same time. 3. Saw a place selling Monroe shockers to fit S60R on E-Bay will this be compatible with the active suspension? ie will a replacement shocker have a fitting to accept the releavant wiring.
Thanks for any help

Can only help with 2.

It is heavily advisable to replace such components likes brakes, shock absorbers, wishbones etc in pairs. This ensures that you get the same performance & safety from both corners.

You should of contacted Rufe at FRF Volvo for these 4c Shocks.

I had to have my front struts replaced earlier this year and the total bill was £1200.

When you get these struts fitted you HAVE to get the SUM re-calibrated which can only be done at a Volvo dealer.

SUM = SUspension Module. The cost would usually be included in the fitting of the dampers at a Volvo garage. I have no idea of the individual price. Phone them up and ask.

I am not entirely sure what you have type, but you will have to get the new struts re-callbrated when they are fitted as they are electronic. They are not like off the shelf universal gas struts like every other car.

All the set-up is having the car in their workshop of level ground, they connect VADIS computer to the car and the new struts are set-up.
