Afternoon all. I've just done this wee bit of work and put it all back together.

Noticed no difference to the noise at all. Although i may not have given it a long enough or close enough blast with the brake cleaner.

Will do it again tomorrow and report back.

Annoyingly i also notices the top engine mount is gubbed, and the ones securing the brace to the strut tops aren't much better. This coupled with both front wishbone bushes shot as well means a bloody long time and lots of money spent on bushes!

Just as well it's so bloody economical or it would be long gone.

That said it is still a great car. Just looks as if the previous owners of mine haven't been that bothered about maintaining it.

David.

Thanks for that!

I've just ordered a brand new unit from GSF for the grand total of £32.83 including postage.

I'll post up comparison details in another thread when I get round to fitting.

I did this today and it has made a bit off difference. One thing I did notice though is that inside the black pipe that you remove first there was quite a bit of oily residue, is this normal? For some reason I was expecting the inside of this to be dry!
Excuse my mechanical ignorance if it's supposed to be that way.

It's a different connector, but an easy fit. You can buy one with the right connection for £80 ish, but for half that if you're prepared to make a patch lead.

does this apply to the D5 185bhp ?

got a 2007 one, still nippy, doesn't feel quite the same as when I bought it, almost as if it feels heavier, had my local specialist service it and they said the cars mint nothing wrong with it, but it defiantly doesn't feel as responsive as when I first had it (unless its in my head!)
