Well, you say that...

I got rid of my 15 year old CL500 last year. It cost a small fortune every year to maintain it. Gearbox leak £1,450. Hydraulic pump for active suspension £1,300. Aircon compressor £900. The list goes on and on. Oh, and it suffered intermittent battery drain issues just like a, err, XC90!

(However, when it worked it was awesome. There's something to be said for a 5 litre V8 petrol.)

Do you have specific reasons to think it's Windows based?
It's not Windows based. It's Linux. Built in the QT5 framework on top of QNX Car2.

My bad then. I thought I read an article about how company developing sensus and it was windows or I thought. Would have explained the mess but as linux is super stable. I read recently a big parnership with Google though to develop sensus on Android.

Just think it's pants development. Qt is a great framework. Sensus is going to be android based, but the car system as a whole isn't. One of the great things about the underlying architecture is that there's a lot of segregation and virtualisation of components

I spoke too soon (see post #51).

On my way to Inverness today, Sensus crashed twice within 3 minutes and then recovered and has been working fine since.
I had various things to do in Inverness and one was to call into the dealers to book first service, for early October.
When I mentioned the problem with Sensus, the Service Manager said that he knew of no new update and would have to look into it further.
Hopefully by October, they will have further information.

As a footnote:
Today, while driving through the centre of Inverness, I had displayed for the first time, a 3D image of a church.
This is the first time that I have been in a city, since updating the UK map to Version 1186.

Back in early May I was told by the service manager at my local dealer that there were 2 big updates planned in 2017:

One planned around week 20 - the mid May one. Though I think it actually started being installed on peoples cars around week 21 or 22. This was positioned as solving the majority of Sensus reboot/freezing issues

The second one was planned later in the year. I do not recall the actual week number, but it was in the 40's. Assuming a delay, it will probably Nov or even Dec before it starts hitting our cars. I was told that this version was planned to resolve any outstanding issues with Sensus
