Flywheel sensor removal- Help

Help- How is the easiest way to remove the flywheel sensor. Mine has now gone south, the cable is shot. Is there a way of repairing the cable? or is it best to renew the whole sensor.

If this is the RPM sensor on top of the bell housing I think its just a 10mm single bolt fixing to remove sensor which then unplugs from the loom on the bulkhead near the NS washer jet connector. I read this in the FAQ i think so I'll check and get back to you.

As above, 1 10mm bolt and extract, its mounted in plastic as well, I've yet to find one stuck in its housing

Is it a pain to get at? It looks it from the top of the engine. Do I have to remove the coolant hoses?

Took the plunge and went at it a few minutes ago, took me the whole of 10 mins to whip it off, best attacked from the passengers side;

I would assume its original. The car has got 245k on the clock. There was a volvo stamp on what was left of the outer insulation. But it looks like heat had eaten it.
Removal was easy. Lift the coolant pipes up. Feel the 10mm socket onto the bolt, crack, slack n lift. Working from the passengers side. Blind work is a bi

Just be careful if its stiff to remove and don't over tighten the nut. I put a socket in there to lock the flywheel and it broke the weak insert/bracket. Gearbox has to come out to replace it, but I managed a hot melt glue bodge that worked for years. Note that the sensor bolt is on the unsecured side of the bracket.

Later years have a wider insert, most are only a few mm wider than the sensor and therefore very weak.

Replacement from GMF was £38 I installed it blind, The bolt was finger tightened, and then nipped up with a socket, twice. The car fired into life, Im happy again. I realised that my intermittent fault with no start was this sensor, I was going to repair this, but I realised that the insulation was fried well into the sensor.

If you have a half arsed spark, or a car that sputters and dies, Its worth pulling this sensor, and checking its condition.
On the M90, the housing for the sensor, felt pretty sturdy- Its plastic, so it shouldnt seize into place. My car is a 1998 celebration,
