hi all
i only have 1 dashlight out of 4 working ,the lamps seem o k well im sure they are. i have had them out and swopped them round i got 2 more to work but the working one went of . so a bit frustrating . im thinking its the printed circut . but am not sure . can you lads help

I had an intermittant failure of one bulb a few weeks ago.
I eventually changed the four larger bulbs for new(remember there is a smaller 1.3A capless bulb illuminating the top of the panel, in-between the indicator repeaters). The old bulb and circuit board seemed fine. The only thing I noticed was the contact wires on the capless bulbs were bent and possibly compromising connection in the bulb-holders.
Remember to use only 3A bulbs and not the 5A ones which are easier to find. I tried 5A bulbs in my last 940 and they overheated and burned out after 6 months.

hi i thought i got bulbs from volvo . are the holder and bulbs one unit . there is 4 spread along the centre of the dash .

No the bulb holders take capless bulbs which just push in.
As well as the four large 3w bulbs along the centre, there are 3 small 1.3w bulbs at the top.
Two are for the indicator repeaters and the third illuminates the top of the speedometer.


Correction: I used 'Amps' for bulb ratings in my last post,when I meant 'watts'.

hi in the volvo handbook . it shows some of the bulbs being1.2 w. gear selector auto . warning/indicator lamps. and control panel .. it just may be the lamps need replaceing. where do you get yours from

The 3w #504 bulbs I bought from Amazon. The 1.2w #286 bulbs I last bought were from a Volvo dealer.
They are both available online.
